Stop reason actions add-on

Require a signature, new planned date or start trip when stopping a work order

Stop reason actions let you link an action to a stop reason. When a technician stops a work order with that reason, the mobile app asks them to complete the action first. The work order stops only after the action is done.

This is an add-on. If it is off, stop reasons work as before. If you would like to try it, let Frontu team know.

Available actions

Each stop reason can have one action:

  • Collect signature – the technician collects a signature from the person on site to confirm.

  • New planned date – the technician sets a new planned date and time for the work order.

  • Start trip – the technician stops the work order and starts a trip.

A stop reason without an action works as usual.

How to add an action to a stop reason

  1. Go to Work orders → Stop reasons.

  2. Open the stop reason and click Edit.

  3. Select an action in the Action field.

  4. Click Save.

The action applies to every work order type linked to this stop reason. If you need different behaviour for different work order types, create separate stop reasons.

Have in mind that a signature is always required and cannot be skipped. Use Collect signature only on reasons where someone is present on site. Do not use it on reasons like "Customer not home".

How to add an action to several stop reasons at once

  1. Go to Work orders → Stop reasons.

  2. Select the stop reasons in the list.

  3. Choose the bulk action and select "Set action" you want to assign.

  4. Choose the action and click "Save".

What the technician sees in the mobile app

The technician taps Stop and selects a stop reason, as usual. If the reason has an action, the app opens the action screen. The selected stop reason stays on screen, so there is no need to pick it again. The Confirm button stays locked until the action is done. After Confirm, the work order is stopped in one step.

Actions work the same way from the work order list and from the work order screen.

Collect signature

  1. Ask the person on site to sign on the signature pad.

  2. Tap Confirm.

The text "I confirm today's technician session and ongoing work status" is shown above the pad and saved with the signature. This signature confirms the visit only. It does not approve the work done.

Confirm button becomes green and clickable only when the signature is added.

The signature appears on the work order act PDF in the End of the day signature block, with time and stop reason.

The office can also see it in the work order view in the web app. If a work order is stopped several times, each signature is saved.

New planned date

  1. Pick a new date and time. Only a future date and time can be selected.

  2. Tap Confirm.

The work order is stopped with the new planned date. The office gets a notification that the work order was rescheduled. The customer is not notified.

Start trip

  1. Tap Stop and start trip.

The work order is stopped and the trip starts. The customer does not get an "on the way" SMS for this trip.

Have in mind that only one trip can run at a time. If another trip is already running, the app shows a message and a Finish trip button. Tap it to end the current trip, then continue.

Working offline

Stop reason actions also work without internet. Signatures, new dates and trips upload with the next sync.

If the technician goes back from the action screen, nothing is saved and the work order stays in progress.
