A work order type holds the default settings for every work order created with it: duration, priority, report details, and what the technician must collect before completing the work.
Create a new type
Go to Work order types.
Click + New type.
Fill in the main fields (see below).
Set up the Settings tab.
Choose which Work order tabs are shown, hidden or required.
Click Save.
Main fields
Type title: the name shown in the work order list. Make it clear and descriptive.
Work order duration: the usual time, in minutes, needed to complete a work order of this type.
Work order priority: the default priority for new work orders of this type. It also sets the default start/end code requirement. You can still change both on each work order before saving. This does not change the type itself.
Report title: a custom title for the work order report. It is shown together with the work order number.
Additional report recipients: extra email addresses that receive the completed work order report. Separate addresses with a semicolon, or put each on a new line. If empty, the report goes only to the client's responsible person or the email saved on the client card.
Watchers: admin and user role users who receive emails with PDF reports for work orders of this type. Works with the Notifications add-on.
Required skills: the skills an employee needs to complete work orders of this type.
Text for signature window: text shown to the client on the signature screen in the app. It also appears in the report. Can be left empty.
Settings tab
The Settings tab is split into three groups: Client signature, Specific workflow and Other. A group is hidden if none of its options apply to your account.
Client signature
Choose one option. It decides how the technician completes the work order.
Require (default): the client must sign.
Do not require: the technician can complete the work order without the client's signature.
Optional (reason required if skipped): the technician can tap No signature and pick a reason from your list. This option is shown only when unsigned reasons are turned on for your company.
End code instead of signature: the technician scans the object's NFC/QR code at the end. The work order is completed on the scan, without signature, rating, customer name or email.
Quick completion: the technician taps the stop icon and selects Work order is completed. No signature or customer details are asked. The customer name and email are taken from the client card.
Under the signature options you can also set:
Make rating mandatory: the client must pick a rating before signing. This option is shown only when the Satisfactory work order rating add-on is on. To turn rating off completely, contact Support.
Require customer name: the technician must enter the client's name.
Require customer email: the technician must enter the client's email.
Some options do not work together. These are greyed out with a short hint explaining why, and Frontu will not let you save a conflicting combination.
Client signature option | Make rating mandatory | Require customer name | Require customer email |
Require | Available | Available | Available |
Do not require | Available | Available | Available |
Optional | Not available | Available | Available |
End code instead of signature | Not available | Not available | Not available |
Quick completion | Not available | Not available | Not available |
Have in mind that rating is given on the signature screen. If the signature is skipped, rating is skipped too.
Existing work order types open with one signature option already selected, based on their old settings. Any conflicting ticks are cleared the next time you save the type.
Specific workflow
Work order start code required: the technician must scan the object's NFC/QR code to start the work order.
Other
Show in unassigned work orders list: unassigned work orders of this type are shown to app users when the Unassigned filter is on in the app's general settings.
Show warranty number: shown only if your account uses the warranty module.
Send summary email: sends the report for work orders of this type.
Send notification: sends a notification to the app user for work orders of this type. Shown only with the Notifications add-on.
Work order tabs
In the Work order tabs section, choose how each tab behaves when the technician works on the work order:
Show: the technician can add entries, but it is not mandatory.
Hide: the tab is not shown.
Required: the technician must add at least one entry to complete the work order.
Use the up and down arrows to change the tab order. The app shows tabs in the same order. Click Save when you are done.
Have in mind that the Places tab is hidden by default. Change it to Show if you want it in the app.
Standard jobs
The Frontu team can turn on standard jobs for work order types. When it is on, every standard job is linked to every work order type, so technicians see the full list in any work order.
To limit what technicians see, remove the standard jobs you don't need from a work order type. This does not affect other types.
When you create or edit a standard job, use the Work order types field to choose which types it is linked to. All active types are selected by default.
