The Poweruser add-on allows administrative environment users to log into the Frontu mobile application using the same credentials they use for the web platform. This gives one unified account for both the web and mobile systems, without the need to create separate technician users.
The Poweruser add-on enables “double role” functionality. A user can:
Work as an administrative or back-office user in the web environment
Log into the technician mobile app when required
This is useful for companies where certain staff members occasionally act in both roles.
The Power User add-on is a paid feature.
If you wish to activate or test it, please contact the Frontu team.
The Power User Add-On Is Useful for:
1. Administrators Who Sometimes Act as Technicians
Administrators normally work in the office but may occasionally need to visit a customer, test a task, or complete a real job in the field.
With the Power User add-on, the supervisor can simply open the mobile app and start or finish work orders without needing a separate technician account.
2. Team Leads Who Monitor and Assist Technicians
A team lead may need to perform work in the field during peak times or help technicians resolve issues onsite.
The add-on allows them to switch between web management and mobile execution without managing two separate accounts.
3. Companies With Flexible Roles
In smaller teams, employees often handle multiple responsibilities.
Power User makes it possible for the same person to:
Manage work orders from the office
Perform the actual work with the mobile app
Report results back in real time
4. Temporary or Emergency Field Access
If a technician is unavailable, an service manager or manager can quickly step in and complete the job using the technician app — simply by enabling the Power User option on their user profile.
How to Enable Power User Access
When the add-on is active, an additional option appears when creating or editing a user.
1. (Optional) Create a Permission Group for Power Users
If you want to have specific permissions for users who will operate both in the web and mobile app:
Go to Users → Permission group
Click New
Enter a title (e.g., Poweruser)
Configure permissions as needed
Save
Frontu permissions follow a strict hierarchy. Selecting a higher level automatically enables everything below it.
Archive – full access. The user can review, create, modify, and archive entries.
Modify – allows reviewing, creating, and modifying. Archiving is not allowed.
Create – allows reviewing and creating. Modifying and archiving are not allowed.
Review – user can only view records. No creating, modifying, or archiving.
Forbid – no access at all; the user will not see the menu item or tab.
2. Create or Edit a User
Go to Users → User list and click New, or open an existing user profile.
Complete the required user fields such as name, email, password, permission group, language, etc.
3. Enable Access to the Technician App
Once the role is set to User, you will see the extra checkbox:
✔ Allow to use the technician app
If this is enabled, the user will be able to log in to the technician mobile app with the same credentials used for the web platform.
